The Ocean’s Call
“The force that drives the water through the rocks
drives my red blood...”
Dylan Thomas
(from:The force that through the green fuse drives the flower)
Beneath a mantle of silence
only the waves are alive today
in their relentless dance.
Pearl clouds
play in the distance
and the sun
too quikly
comes and vanishes.
I walk along the ebony cliff
shivering at the wind’s icy touch
while
time and space dissolve
in the primordial roar
of the cobalt-blue ocean.

Lidia Chiarelli, what a thrilling and beautiful interpretation you have created in response to my painting! I wonder if the seas are similar, or much different in Italia from our rocky shores in Maine!
